Educators have come to realize that access to
technology is simply the first step to bridging the digital divide and
closing the achievement gap. Equally as important is the readiness of teens
and young adults to use technology and information efficiently, effectively
and productively. That’s what YUE is all about.
The YUE Learning System is a unique tool that combines online curricula
on a proprietary website with classroom workshops to create a highly
individualized and interactive learning environment. A variety of
interactive learning experiences of realistic community dynamics and
engaging lessons reinforce the content. An online facilitator guides the
learner through each of the easy-to-use, self-paced courses. Participants
are quizzed to ensure learning has occurred.
Joan Carroll-Flowers
is founder of the Young
Urban Entrepreneurs program. A self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur,” she is
an author and one of the nation’s most successful business women. She spent 20
years as an award-winning New York advertising executive before becoming a
successful entrepreneur. As founding
partner of several successful small business ventures, she has served in the
capacity of CEO, President and COO. Her biggest accomplishment was at the helm
of a startup firm that grew into a $10+ million enterprise with a staff of 150.
She took the company public through a reverse merger and successfully negotiated
its sale. Today she is busy writing interactive children’s books and inspiring
inner city youth to approach life with a passion for achievement.
